So sorry for the hiatus these past month as I was on a US holiday which went horribly wrong in many ways and I didn’t have the energy to write or post so often at Instagram. It was the time that I needed to get my priorities straight and focus on my holiday not updating. But, here I am back and retold what I have experience during my time in US (maybe just the 1/100 of it).

As you all know, I went and stayed in LA the longest and it was not a surprise that recreational cannabis is legal in California state and it bothered me a lot. I did study at the States and it was way before recreational cannibis is legal and I was okay with it. Fast forward to last year, I was pretty..pissed. I wasn’t comfortable with the smells since day one I know about cannabis and not to mention everyone now is smoking it so it was just too smelly for me? This time, I got the experience to visit a cannabis dispensary near Glossier called Cookies and to be honest, I was pretty impressed. It was like the Apple Store for cannabis. You can buy anything you like such as candies or edible, the real flower cannabis, or even oils for facial or sleep. One interesting part of cannabis is the CBD component. There are two components that I know of: THC and CBD and for this post, I want to explain about CBD because right now there are a lot of beauty products that focused on it.

So, what is CBD? Cannabidiol is a compound that can be found from cannibis that attributes for therapeutic effects. Unlikt THC, CBD is safe and non-addictive. It won’t make you high if you are using it cause it can react differently than THC from your body and brain. Actually, CBD can also neutralize the “high” aspect from THC so this is very safe for those who want to try cannabis and didn’t want to get high. It is safe to say that is why beauty brands are starting to attributes CBD to the products.

The sky rocket interests for cannabis is USA does make sense for brands such as Milk Makeup, Herbivore Botanicals, Boy Smell and even Kiehl’s to delve into incorporating the component to their products. Take for example Milk Makeup, the new and hip brands that target teenagers and 20s women to be bold and not to be afraid with what you are wearing. Cannabis is hip and cool so they released their Kush line that are mascara, lip balms, and their newest addition makeup primer. Herbivore Botanicals released their Emerald CBD oil to promote the calming and relaxing scent of cannabis and it is becoming an instant favorite on the market.

The craze in CBD oil is beginning to boom in United States as people with anxiety are running towards it and beauty industry is embracing it as something that they can look upon and sell it. But, the question it: can they sell it outside of United States where most of us, the rest of the world, still frown upon cannabis as a drug. Is it safe to use them into our skincare or makeup routine? More is not always better and everything is still new so us, the consumer sure do need to research not it. I found an article that really cast upon the awareness of using CBD oil and how we as consumer should know about it. https://medium.com/cbd-origin/10-things-to-know-before-you-buy-cbd-online-or-anywhere-really-db9813f32884.

While this is new, I don’t think that I will be trying all of these products or even CBD oil. I have this negative image on cannabis and I don’t think that I need it right now for my skincare or even makeup. However, this new component is interesting to watch as it is practically only legal in USA. I am just interested on why beauty brands are willingly to spend a lot of dollar for just the US market? Is it worth it to do? If Keihl’s are on board, we might as well see a lot more brands are joining the wagon.
